Water1 cup (for a 6 qt. pot) or 1 ½ cups (for an 8 qt. pot)
2poundsground beeffresh or frozen
3tablespoonolive oil
2oztaco seasoningor another seasoning blend of your choice (around 4 tablespoon per 1 oz)
⅔cupbrothbeef or vegetable (for a saucy meat dish, use ¾ to 1 cup broth or more instead)
3tablespoonlime juiceor red wine vinegar or lemon juice
green onionchopped (optional)
Instructions
Pour water over the bottom of the pot and then position your trivet. Place 1-2 pounds of ground beef on your trivet, piece the beef, lock the lid and turn the valve to sealing.
Set to high pressure and set the time as follows: For FRESH ground beef, cook for 6 minutes (if the meat is in a flat form) or 8 minutes (if it is in a tube form). For FROZEN ground beef, cook for 20 minutes (if the meat is in a flat form) or 25 minutes (if it is in a tube form)
When the cooking time comes to an end, let the pressure release naturally for about 5 minutes and then do a quick release. Check the temperature with a meat thermometer-- it should be 160 to 165 degrees F (71-74 degrees C). If it is not, seal the pot again and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Once your meat is cooked, transfer it to a place, remove the trivet and discard the water. Place the cooked meat back into the pot and break it up into small chunks.
Press the sauté button and let the pot heat for 3-5 minutes. Stir in the oil and then the seasoning and brown the meat for 3-5 minutes. Stir in the broth and let evaporate for 2 minutes. Mix in the lime juice and use it in many dishes such as hamburger helper, ground beef tacos, lasagne, and more.
