Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs

Air fryer hard boiled eggs that are quick and easy to cook more evenly, easy to peel, and require no water.  It’s a hands-off approach that gets the best results and will become your favorite cooking method. Make a healthy breakfast or snack out of them or use them to prep sandwiches, salads, deviled eggs, and more.

  • 6 large eggs
  • Salt and pepper to sprinkle on top before eating

Instructions

  • Place the eggs straight from the fridge in the air fryer basket.
  • Cook them at 250° F (120° C) for 14 minutes (soft-boiled), 15 minutes (medium-cooked), and 16 minutes (hard-boiled eggs). NOTE: Time may vary between air fryers and the size of the eggs. I used large eggs and my air fryer is 1500 Watts. I didn’t have to preheat the air fryer!
  • Remove the eggs from the air fryer using tongs and place them into a bowl with ice water to stop them from cooking further. Let them sit for 2-3 minutes before peeling.
  • To peel them easily, run the air fryer boiled eggs over a hard surface, crack the shell on the wide end which contains an air pocket, and start peeling them from that end. Then peel around placing your fingers between the boiled whites and the shell to loosen.

TIPS 
  • If this is your first time trying the air fryer method, cook 1 or 2 eggs at first and adjust the time accordingly. Air fryers vary in temperature just like ovens.
  • If you see brown spots in your eggs after cooking them in the air fryer, don’t worry! This doesn’t ruin them. Remember the eggs will be peeled and those spots will disappear. This only means you need to clean your fryer better next time.
  • Adjust the time to the desired level of doneness and according to the potency of your air fryer. Remember air fryers' brands and models vary in strength and watts. Try to cook a few eggs to find what works best for your model. The air fryer I used is 1500 watts and was not preheated to cook the eggs.
  • Use an ice water bath to stop the eggs from overcooking. It shocks the eggs’ temperature and stops them from cooking further. You can either run the eggs under cold water but I find the water bath more effective.
  • If your air fryer doesn’t have a basket, use a grill or mesh rack in order to allow the air to circulate around the eggs while cooking.
  • Cook up to 12 eggs at once depending on the size of your air fryer. After testing the perfect time for the doneness you want, you can start cooking a large batch. It is great for meal prepping and you can store air fryer hard-boiled eggs in the fridge for up to one week. No need to pay more for ready-to-eat hard-boiled eggs from your grocery store.
How long can you keep air fryer hard-boiled eggs?
Hard-boiled eggs keep well in the fridge for up to one week, whether they’re peeled or unpeeled.
How do you store hard-boiled eggs?
  • For unpeeled hard-boiled eggs, store them in any container or bag, sealed or unsealed. Just make sure to dry their exterior with a paper towel.
  • For peeled hard-boiled eggsstore them in a bowl of cold water to cover and change the water daily. Or cover them with damp paper towels and place them in a sealed container without water in the fridge.
Can I freeze air fryer hard-boiled eggs?
As you can see in our easy freezer meals charts, hard-boiled eggs are one of those foods that don’t freeze well. However, some people remove the cooked egg yolks and freeze them in a freezer bag to keep for up to 3 months. I have never tried and I think they become wet and messy after thawing. One thing is for sure, the cooked egg whites will become rubbery and should never be frozen.
