Equipment

  • 1 high-speed blender

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces fresh turmeric root washed and peeled (about ½ cup), or 1 teaspoon of organic turmeric powder (Alternatively, you may replace it with ½ this amount of fresh ginger root to make ginger turmeric shots).
  • 4 ounces carrots about ¾ cup
  • 2 navel oranges either squeezed or use the whole pulp
  • 4 fresh lemons squeezed (or limes)
  • ¾ coconut water or regular water
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey stevia in the raw if you are diabetic, or pure maple syrup for a vegan recipe. I prefer honey because it is a natural prebiotic!
  • A pinch of ground black pepper "Research supports that combining the piperine in black pepper with the curcumin in turmeric enhances the absorption of curcumin by up to 2,000%" according to this source.

Instructions

  • Place all the ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend them until smooth.
  • Using a fine mesh strainer, strain the liquid. TIP: You may either discard the solids or transfer them to a freezer bag and freeze them to use later on in teas, juices, and smoothies.
  • Next, transfer the liquid to shot bottles and refrigerate them for up to one week.

How to Store
  • FRIDGE: Store raw turmeric shots in an airtight container (jars, glass bottles to drink with shot glasses or shot bottles) for up to one week. Enjoy their maximum potency or freshness within 3-4 days of the day you made them!
  • FREEZER: If making a large batch of these turmeric immunity shots, freeze them in an ice cube tray with a lid for 2-3 months and thaw them in the fridge before drinking them, or add them frozen to juices and smoothies.
