Pumpkin brigadeiros are gluten-free pumpkin fudge balls made from sweetened condensed milk and pumpkin puree that are shaped like mini-pumpkins. A hit among children and adults!

Three combined images showing Pumpkin Brigadeiros displayed in a tray.

Hello, dearies! Halloween has started early as you can see... Remember our last fun American treat, the cute Chocolate-Apple Halloween Owl?

Well, I have another equally cute, easy, and delicious Halloween treat for you: Brazilian Pumpkin Brigadeiros.

Yummmm!!! Who doesn't love brigadeiros? Maybe only those who haven't had the good fortune to try them....

I know that many of you who have already had an opportunity to sample brigadeiros may be asking yourselves: "How did this classic Brazilian treat, made from cocoa, sweetened condensed milk, and butter, come to have pumpkin incorporated into it?"

Although chocolate brigadeiros are the most popular and traditional of them all, there are other flavors of brigadeiro.  These include white chocolate, passion fruit, coconut, lemon, guava, caipirinha, pumpkin, and other variants as detailed here.

I think that the pumpkin brigadeiros are perfect for Halloween, as well as for another special occasion-- a guest post! Wouldn't you agree?

Yes, I am guest posting today for With A Spin, from my friend and fellow blogger, Lail.

Although I have been quite busy, I could not miss out on the chance to contribute a post to the superbly-written and creative blog, With A Spin.

Its author, Lail, shares mainly mouthwatering Bangladeshi food recipes, great DIY projects, and valuable parenting advice.

If you love to learn about other cultures and enrich your life, as I do, this is definitely one of the blogs to visit, for sure.

A huge thanks to Lail for thinking of me! I feel both happy and honored!

Lail, I hope that both you and our readers enjoy these pumpkin brigadeiros.

They are a great Halloween project to make with/for children, as well as an opportunity to experience a different type of sweet treat.

HOW TO MAKE PUMPKIN BRIGADEIROS (BRIGADEIROS DE ABÓBORA)

    • Grease a dinner dish with unsalted butter and set aside. Place about 1 cup of granulated sugar on another plate and set aside.
    • Mix the condensed milk, pumpkin puree, butter, and apple pie spice in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
    • Cook, stirring constantly in order to avoid burning, until thickened enough that the bottom of the pan shows through briefly when the mixture is stirred, and runs to the sides of the pan slowly.
    • This should usually take approximately 10-12 minutes (large burner) or 15-20 minutes (small burner).
    • Remove from heat, stir in the vanilla, and pour mixture into the greased dish. Let cool.
    • The brigadeiro dough can be refrigerated for about 20 minutes before rolling into balls if desired. Then grease hands well with butter and shape the brigadeiros into balls, using a tablespoon as measure.
    • Roll brigadeiros in sugar, flatten a bit both the top and botton of the brigadeiros and shape the sides with a toothpick, making vertical marks.
    • Place them into bonbon cups, and top with a clove. Use both colors of icing t decorate them as pumpkins.

Tip: To shape the brigadeiros into tiny pumpkins, slightly flattened each brigadeiro and then make vertical marks all around the exterior with a toothpick.

This recipe was adapted from Tudo Gostoso.

Well, Happy Halloween to all, and the delight of enjoying lots of pumpkin brigadeiros!!!
