    Cream Cheese Fruit Dip Recipe

This easy fruit dip is made with cream cheese, plant-based yogurt (or plain Greek yogurt), heavy whipped cream, a sugar-free sweetener, lime juice and zest.

It is super creamy and delish!

Most of all, you can make it in just 5 minutes.

    Plus, it's healthy!

You can serve it as a snack with fruits or use it as a centerpiece for any party fruit tray.

Oh... Make it and bring your fruit tray for backyard BBQs, family gatherings, parties, sports games, and more.

You can easily flavor it differently every time. We used lime juice and lime zest this time, but you can replace them with lemon juice/zest, coconut or almond extract, vanilla extract, chocolate chips, etc.

Our cream cheese fruit dip goes well with any seasonal fresh fruit and can also be served with cookies, crackers, or toast.

    What’s a Fruit Dip?

A fruit dip is a light and fluffy dip usually made of beaten cream cheese and yogurt, heavy cream, or marshmallow crème.

It’s versatile and can be served with fresh fruits on different occasions such as holidays, for snacks, and for parties. The fruits are dipped into the cream cheese dip or mixture.

    Are Fruit Dips Keto?

Not always! It depends on its ingredients. A classic fruit dip contains a lot of sugar because it calls for marshmallow crème.

But our cream cheese fruit dip is keto because it calls for cream cheese, plant-based yogurt, heavy cream, sugar-free sweetener, and lime juice/zest.

    Ingredients and Substitutions

To make your keto cream cheese fruit dip keto recipe, you need:

    • Cream cheese: It must be softened or at room temperature in order to mix well with the other ingredients. Make sure to remove it out of the fridge about 20-30 minutes prior to making the dip.
    • Heavy whipping cream: It will be beaten or whipped separately until creamy and stiff. Then it will be folded into the cream cheese mixture to give the fruit dip a fluffy and light texture.
    • Yogurt: We used a full-fat plant-based yogurt because it is low carb. But you can use a full-fat plain Greek yogurt if you prefer.
    • Sugar-free sweetener: We used Confectioner's Swerve, but you can use any superfine or powdered sweetener like Confectioner's Stevia or even powdered sugar if you are not on a low-carb diet. However, no granulated sweetener must be used because it won't dissolve well, making the fruit dip gritty instead of smooth.
    • Flavoring: We used both fresh lime zest and lime juice but you can use any flavoring of choice such as 2 tablespoon cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, zest/juice of one lemon, or key limes, etc. You can even add unsweetened coconut flakes or chocolate chips to your cream cheese fruit dip.

How to Make Cream Cheese Fruit Dip

In a medium mixing bowl, add the heavy cream and whip with an electric mixer until soft peak forms. Reserve!

In another large mixing bowl, add the softened cream cheese, yogurt, and sweetener, beating on low speed until creamy and homogeneous.

Add the lime juice and beat until combined. Mix in the lime zest and then gently fold the reserved whipped heavy cream until fully combined and fluffy.

Cover and chill in the fridge for 30 minutes before serving with your favorite low-carb fruits (berries).

Best Fruits for Keto Fruit Dip

The best fruits to serve with this healthy low carb dip are:

    • Raspberries
    • Blueberries
    • Strawberries
    • Blackberries
    • Fresh coconut meat

If you are not on a keto diet, you may serve your cream cheese fruit dip with any seasonal fresh fruits such as:

    • Peach or any other stone fruit
    • Mango
    • Apple
    • Pineapple
    • Watermelon
a piece of strawberry dipped in fluffy cream

    Variations

    • Marshmallow cream cheese fruit dip: It uses cream cheese beaten with marshmallow creme instead of heavy cream or yogurt. It is sweeter and not healthy!
    • Chocolate fruit dip: It uses cocoa powder (about 1-2 tbsp) for flavoring the cream cheese fruit dip.
    • Strawberry fruit dip: It calls for strawberry puree or strawberry extract to flavor the fruit dip. It has a nice pink color!
    • Chocolate chips dip: It adds about ⅓ cup of sugar-free mini chocolate chips to the dip.
    • Peanut butter fluff: Just beat ¼ cup of creamy peanut butter along with cream cheese to replace the lime juice/zest in our keto fruit dip recipe.
    • Coconut fruit dip: Beat in 1 teaspoon coconut extract and/or add about 1-2 tablespoon unsweetened coconut flakes to replace the lime juice/zest in our fruit dip recipe.

    How to Soften Cream Cheese

If you forgot to remove your cream cheese from the fridge 20-30 minutes before making this creamy fruit dip, don't worry! Here are a few tips to soften it quickly:

    • Remove the cream cheese from the package, cut it into cubes, and spread them out on a plate, allowing them to sit for 15-20 minutes or until soft.
    • Remove the cream cheese from the box but leave it in the foil packaging and then place it into a bowl with warm water (not boiling) for a few minutes.
    • Take the cream cheese out of all the packaging, cut it into chunks,  and microwave in a bowl for 10 seconds at a time, flipping it over between each session, or until softened. It may take about 20-40 seconds depending on the size of the chunks.

    FAQ's

Does the cream cheese have to be at room temperature?

The cream cheese must be at room temperature in order to avoid clumps; otherwise, it won’t whip together with the other ingredients.

close up of a platter with fresh fruits and a fluffy spread

Can I use Greek yogurt in my dip?

Yes! In fact, we replace ¼ cup of heavy cream with yogurt. It made it lighter! But you can’t fully replace the cream cheese with yogurt, or the dip will be too runny and not fluffy.

What Else Can I Pair This Keto Cream Cheese Fruit Dip With?

A classic fruit dip is often served with fresh fruits and vanilla wafers.

To make a nice keto fruit platter serve this low-carb fruit dip along with keto cookies such as these keto shortbread cookies and also keto tortilla chips.

    Storage

Store this keto cream cheese fruit dip in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.

I do not recommend freezing it as it won't be as creamy, fluffy, and smooth when thawing.
